Data-driven sneaker intelligence

Hype Lies. Data Doesn't.

Right Steps tracks real transaction data across hundreds of basketball sneakers, then tells you the predicted resale price, the suggested buy price, and whether this shoe is worth your money right now.

every signature that moves the market

We focus where the resale action is: basketball's most collected signature lines, from Kobe to LeBron to the next generation of stars. If people are flipping it, we're tracking it.

About Rightsteps

A Student Who Got Tired of Paying the Wrong Price

Right Steps was built by Ruhaan Gupta, a student at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST), around a question that wouldn’t go away: why is it so hard to know if a sneaker is actually worth the price?

Growing up as a basketball fan, Ruhaan watched the resale market balloon into a multi-billion dollar industry with almost no reliable tools for everyday buyers. Prices fluctuate wildly. Limited drops sell out in seconds. And most collectors are left making hundred-dollar decisions based on gut feel and hype cycles.

So he built something better.

Combining his STEM background with hands-on research into resale data and machine learning, Ruhaan developed Right Steps to do one thing well: tell you what a sneaker is actually worth and what you should actually pay for it.

This is an independent student project. No brand sponsorships. No paid placements. Just data.

How We Make The Call

Every sneaker on Right Steps comes with three numbers that matter: a Predicted Price, a Suggested Buy Price, and an Average Sale Price. Here’s how to read them.

The Predicted Price is where our model expects the resale value to land, based on historical transactions, market momentum, and release context. It’s the target.

The Suggested Buy Price is the number you should never pay above. It’s calculated from the gap between current listings and predicted value giving you a margin of safety so you’re buying with an edge, not on hope.

The Average Sale Price is what the shoe has actually been selling for. Compare it to the predicted price to see whether the market is running hot, cooling off, or right on track.

Together, these three numbers answer the only question that matters: is this the right time to buy — and at what price?
